Been over a month since we left Japan and be back in Bali.
Still reminiscing the spiritual connections and activations we had in Mount Kurama.

Mount Kurama is the birthplace of the Reiki practice, we had a temple priest conducted a ceremony for us, we hugged sacred trees and received water blessing from Kifune Shrine 🐉

First day being back in Ubud Bali, after 77 days of travelling, happens to be the first day of Neptune’s ingress into Aries, right after the potent Aries Solar Eclipse.

Initially feeling quite a lot of resistance coming back, but as soon as I let myself feel Bali’s embrace, as soon as I let my body move, I remember her nourishing, her comfort and guidance, how perfectly symbolic it is to be in her divine flow again right on this day.

Feeling softer, gentler, in stillness and knowing that this is the period of planting the seeds of creation, and we are in the drivers seats of manifesting our dreams into reality. 🦋

-Journey to Mount Emeishan 峨眉山-

Right after I arrived in Bali last year in June, I’ve suddenly taken on a lot of interest in Buddhism, I since picked up reciting and playing chantings of Buddhism sutras as my ritual every morning.

I became especially enchanted with Heart Sutra 心經 and Surangama Sutra 楞嚴經, and then when I went to Les Waterfall in Bali, I lost of my ring of Heart Sutra in the waterfall, I took it as a sign for me to pause my learnings in Buddhism before I became truly ready.

Then this year, when @technicianofthesacred and I were in Dali Yunnan, we were recommended by a Buddhist friend who is also an incense maker to visit Mount Emeishan 峨眉山 when we were in Chengdu, Sichuan.

It is said that Mount Emeishan is one of China’s four famous Buddhist mountains. It’s the Bodhimanda 道場 of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva 普賢菩薩. At 3079 meters, Mount Emei is more than 1000 meters higher than the other three Buddhist sacred mountains. Two days before we arrived at the mountain, we knew it would be one of the coldest days during this winter, we booked a place to stay on top of the Golden Summit, the peak of Emeishan where we could see the Massive Statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. When we got there it was snowing and we were greeted by the mountain by its striking beauty and pristine energy.

Samantabhadra (lit. “Universal Worthy”, “All Good”) is a great bodhisattva associated with practice and meditation. He is the patron of the Lotus Sutra and, according to the Avatamsaka Sutra, made the ten great vows which are the basis of a bodhisattva.

Every step of this pilgrimage feels like a perfect synchronicity, to be there and to receive its teachings, either conscious or unconscious, is a true blessing of a lifetime. And the gifts we received would continue to unfold in the lifetimes to come.

In Buddhism, it is said that Everyone is a Buddha, we are here merely attempting to remember the innate essence that we are. We are here to observe the temples, the sacred statue, but to also know that the Buddha spirit is within us already, when we pray, we are surrendering and bowing to that divine spark that connect us all.

/ Remembrance - Returning to Ancient Chinese Wisdom /
- Coming Back Home -

For a very long time, I’ve put a lot of attention and focus on foreign cultures, traditions; Chinese culture and history didn’t resonate much for me, especially after I moved to Hong Kong when I was seven years old.

This year, in the year of the Snake I found myself travelling and returning back to the land of China, to much of my surprises, I find myself becoming more open to learning, understanding and receiving the knowledge, wisdom, energies and people of China.

Along the way from Kunming, Dali, Chengdu, I am guided to get to know and connect to people and places that feel truly magical and synchronistic, I’ve come to make friends with monks, Buddhists, Taoists, healers, incense makers, mystics. Different symbols of deities, buddhas, bodhisattvas, arhats have come more alive to me. We would be walking around Dali Old Town one evening and then suddenly ended up chatting with a buddhist about her becoming a master holder (掌門人) of a certain Buddhism lineage, and then the next 2 days visiting Wuwei Temple of the sacred mountain 蒼山, which is considered a Dragon Meridian line that is still alive in Yunnan Province.

It feels like this time around coming back to China, being in the natural flow 随緣, I am experiencing more magic and synchronicities, and I am always guided to meet with the right people, at the right places, at divine timings.

And then I realise, when I am more open to reconnecting to the roots of my ancestors, the land, its wisdom, its history, its mundane and sacred parts, I am also becoming more accepting of myself. I am seeing and witnessing the parts of myself, where I’ve ignored and avoided; and in time, the beauty and truths of China ancient wisdom also open up to me in resonance.

And so it is, from the year of Dragon to the year of Serpent, the process of shedding layers of my old self, and coming to give light to the parts of my origins, the roots, the ancestors - is such an exciting transformation, and a way of venturing towards the future.

- Changing - Impermanent -

In the 10 day of Vipassana course, I spent on average 6-8 hours meditating daily, in complete silence and without any phone nor journaling.

On Day 7, after spending countless hours working diligently, attentively observing sensations in my body, in my afternoon hour long meditation, I started noticing sensations, energy arising from the bottom of my spine, gradually building and moving upwards. In fact, my spine was being moved like a waveform back and forth, currents rippling through me, I felt an overwhelming buit up of energy in this central channel of my body going to my heart and third eye.
At this point my body was already vibrating, my mind went: this is too much, I couldn’t handle it, make it stop.
Ah but what did I learn, my only job is to become the observer and witness of all this, everything, at any passing moment.

No aversion, don’t be afraid, don’t run away.
No craving, no greed, no attachment, just enjoying (witnessing) what is.

Once my mind shifted, at that instant, the overbearing energy blossomed all over my body, I felt like every pore of my skin in my being was opened up, an indescribable bliss pleasure and joy washed over me like cosmic waves. In front of my eyes are all my past memories flashing at incredibly fast rate, I even caught glimpses of “the future”.

After a while I came back to myself, at this point I was crying with so many tears - all the beautiful release. Just like it arose with vigor, it also had to pass away.

And one starts to know the truth, to experentientially live and embody the truth, is to bear complete witness, to give full attention to every moment, the present. My vipassana teacher told me that my only job was to observe this, and I did it, and despite how beautiful and pleasurable it felt, I shouldn’t develop craving to this experience.

How to allow without judgement?
How to love and embrace without attachment?
How do we live in the present in all its perfection?

To witness every passing fleeting moment.
Do not react.
Just observe. Just observe. Just observe.
All impermanence. All perfections.

May every sensation and experience bring you wisdom and liberation.

Let your mind quiet
Let your body tune into the
natural rhythm of life
All the endings, beginnings, cycles,
past and future fade
The present moment
is all there is.

Clearing Out Old Relationship Patterns

What a potent past 1.5 years it’s been, with the south node in my rising sign Libra, I’ve been guided (or forced) to dissolve the many existing structures and definitions of myself to all formats of relationships. It’s been a non-stop shedding of layers.

I’ve been called to look at the forms I’ve been building for myself throughout all these years, I’ve grown to become so attached to them. This box I’ve been so carefully crafting for so long, I’m now being asked to demolish it all, so a truer version of myself can emerge.

It hasn’t been easy. In fact it’s been hyper disorienting, I constantly ask “Who am I?” - from the familiarity of forms and existing framework in relationships, romantically, friendships, to my family, with money, my own self worth, cultures, communities and groups, spirituality and beliefs, to the world at large.

Every time I let go of my relationship to one of these, I go through a mini death, it’s challenging to say the least, to let a part of myself die, and the images and ideas I’ve attached to these things and people.

This morning I woke up with grief and sadness, I know I’m at the end of this phase and I’m saying goodbye to all these aspects of myself. I let go of the “I” and offer myself to the altar of god, knowing that it’s the “I” that’s preventing a new me to arrive. And with this letting go also comes with gratitude and celebration, I cherish them all, I salute them all, the remnants of the forms become the formless essence of a new one.

I know with the closing of this chapter, a new one is emerging, and I let courage and divine wisdom guide me, I move modestly into the unknown, trusting each step of the way beyond right or wrong, light or dark, is unconditional love of IT all.
